Name: NEC Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller Driver
Author: NEC

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall any existing NEC/Renesas USB 3.0 host controller driver in Device Manager, select “Delete driver software,” reboot, then run the correct package as administrator.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check Device Manager for the controller or unknown devices. Confirm BIOS xHCI/PCIe is enabled, reseat the card or try another PCIe slot, and verify the hardware ID (`PCIVEN_1033` for NEC) before forcing a driver.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Windows’ in-box xHCI driver can override the vendor driver. Roll back or remove the conflicting entry, avoid mixing NEC and Renesas packages, install one matching version, and reboot after each change.
