Author: Mustek

Question 1

Install fails on Windows 10/11?

Accepted Answer

The BearPaw 4800TA Pro uses a legacy scanner driver. Run the installer as administrator in Windows XP/7 compatibility mode; if Windows blocks an unsigned driver, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement, then reboot.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the scanner powers on and the lamp moves. Connect it directly to a USB 2.0 port—not a hub—and try another cable. Check Device Manager for an unknown USB device; remove it and rescan.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall old Mustek scanner software and any existing TWAIN/WIA entries, reboot, then install only one driver package matching your Windows architecture. Do not mix 32-bit and 64-bit drivers.
