Question 1

Driver install fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

The 1248UB uses legacy drivers that may be unsigned or incompatible with newer Windows versions. Run the installer as administrator, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement if required, and use the correct 32-bit/64-bit package.

Question 2

Scanner not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the USB cable and try a directly connected rear USB 2.0 port rather than a hub. Confirm the scanner powers on, then reinstall the Mustek driver and restart before opening scanning software.

Question 3

Version/TWAIN conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Old Mustek or third-party TWAIN drivers can prevent the 1248UB from working. Uninstall previous scanner software, remove stale TWAIN entries, reboot, and install only the matching driver version for your Windows build.
