How to Install

1. Check your Windows configuration. Confirm whether your computer runs Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7 and whether the system is 32-bit or 64-bit. Select a driver package that explicitly supports both your operating system and the RJ 900X.

1. Prepare the network connection. Turn on the printer and ensure it is connected to a network reachable from your PC. Note its IP address from its network settings; you may need it if automatic discovery does not locate the device.

1. Download and extract the package. Save the appropriate driver, scan it with your security software, and extract it if necessary. Review any included installation instructions for model-specific requirements.

1. Install the driver and select the printer. Run the supplied installer with administrator permission if prompted. If the package requires manual installation, use Windows’ Add Printer option and select the extracted driver files. Choose the detected device or configure a TCP/IP port using its IP address.

1. Verify printing. Complete setup and restart Windows if requested. Print a test page or a small job from your compatible printing application. If the printer appears offline, check the network connection and confirm that the configured port matches its current IP address.

If you use RIP software with the MUTOH RJ 900X, check that software’s setup guidance as well. Some workflows require a dedicated device profile or connection configuration in addition to the Windows driver.

Common Issues and Fixes

• Install fails or stalls: Run the Mutoh RJ-900X driver installer as administrator, disconnect the printer until prompted, and remove any older Mutoh RJ-series driver before retrying. Temporarily disable antivirus only during install.
• Device not detected: For USB, connect the RJ-900X directly to a rear motherboard port with a known-good cable—avoid hubs. For network models, confirm the printer’s IP/subnet, add a Windows TCP/IP port manually, and allow the driver through the firewall.
• Version conflicts/duplicate queues: Uninstall old RJ-900X/Mutoh drivers via Print Management, delete stale printer queues and ports, reboot, then install the latest Windows driver. Do not mix 32-bit/64-bit or old status-monitor utilities with the new driver.
