Name: MTK USB Port (COM7) Driver
Author: MediaTek

Question 1

Install fails?

Accepted Answer

Run the installer as administrator. If Windows blocks the driver, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement, then reinstall via Device Manager → Update driver → Browse to the extracted `.inf` files.

Question 2

Device not detected / COM7 missing?

Accepted Answer

Use a known-good USB data cable and rear direct USB port. For MTK devices, power off the phone and reconnect in preloader/BROM mode; avoid USB hubs. Reinstall the MediaTek USB VCOM/preloader driver if the port never appears.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older MediaTek VCOM/preloader drivers and any stale COM port entries, delete the driver package, reboot, then install the matching driver version. Confirm COM7 is not already assigned to another active device in Device Manager.
