Question 1

Driver install fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

Run the MOTU installer as Administrator, power the 828mk3 Hybrid on, and connect it directly via USB or FireWire before installing. Disconnect other audio interfaces and avoid USB hubs during setup.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the correct USB/FireWire cable and port, check the interface’s power and mode settings, and verify it appears in Windows Device Manager. Reinstall the MOTU driver if it shows as unknown or disabled.

Question 3

Version conflicts after upgrading?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older MOTU drivers and reboot before installing the latest package. Keep the 828mk3 Hybrid firmware matched to the installed driver, and remove duplicate audio devices in Device Manager if MOTU Audio Setup cannot see the unit.
