Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the Motorola setup as administrator and use Windows compatibility mode for older packages. Disconnect the modem’s USB cable until prompted; if using Ethernet, the modem needs no Windows driver.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the Online light is solid, power-cycle the modem, and connect the PC to a LAN port with a known-good Ethernet cable. For USB connections, try a rear port and check Device Manager for an unknown USB/network device.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall previous SURFboard/Motorola USB modem drivers and reboot before reinstalling. Keep the Ethernet adapter on DHCP and avoid static IPs or VPN adapters that hide the modem. VoIP registration failures are usually provisioning/signal issues, not a Windows driver problem.
