The LSI 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller driver enables Windows to communicate with the LSI Logic controller that manages IEEE 1394, commonly known as FireWire, connections. It supports communication with compatible peripherals such as digital video cameras, external storage devices, and audio equipment. For Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7, choose a driver package that matches your controller’s hardware ID and your installed Windows version.
Key Features
- FireWire controller support: Allows Windows to recognize and operate the LSI 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller, providing the connection layer needed by compatible IEEE 1394 devices.
- OHCI interface compatibility: Supports the Open Host Controller Interface used by compliant FireWire hardware to exchange data with the operating system.
- Peripheral communication: Enables data transfer through the controller for supported video capture, storage, and audio workflows. Connected equipment may also require its own drivers or software.
- Device Manager integration: Lets you check the controller’s status, review driver information, and troubleshoot detection or configuration issues using Windows tools.
How to Install
- Confirm the controller details. Open Device Manager and locate the controller under “IEEE 1394 host controllers” or, if it is not recognized, “Other devices.” Open its Properties, select the Details tab, and check Hardware Ids to verify the driver match.
- Select the appropriate package. Download a driver intended for your Windows version and system architecture. Do not assume that a package for Windows 7 or 8 will also work on Windows 10 or 11; check its stated compatibility before proceeding.
- Prepare the downloaded files. Extract the package if it is compressed and review any included instructions. Close applications using FireWire equipment before changing the controller driver.
- Install the driver. Run the supplied installer, if available. Otherwise, right-click the controller in Device Manager, choose “Update driver,” select “Browse my computer for drivers,” and point Windows to the extracted folder.
- Restart and test the connection. Restart your computer if prompted, then confirm that the controller appears without a warning icon in Device Manager. Connect a compatible FireWire device and test it in the appropriate application.
If Windows already recognizes the controller and your equipment works correctly, replacing the existing driver may not be necessary. If a new driver causes problems, use “Roll Back Driver” in the controller’s Properties when that option is available.
