The Akai EIE Pro driver connects your AKAI Professional USB audio interface to Windows so recording software can access its audio inputs and outputs. Installing the appropriate driver helps your computer recognize the interface and provides the audio communication needed for recording, playback, and monitoring.

Key Features

  • Multichannel audio access: Makes the EIE Pro’s four audio inputs and four outputs available to compatible recording applications for flexible tracking and playback.
  • ASIO support: Allows compatible digital audio workstations to communicate with the interface through ASIO, with buffer settings that help balance responsiveness and reliable playback.
  • Audio configuration: Provides access to supported sample-rate and buffer options, helping you match the interface settings to your recording project.
  • Windows integration: Enables software to use the interface as an external audio device rather than relying on your computer’s built-in sound hardware.

How to Install

  1. Check your Windows version. Before downloading, confirm whether you use Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7, along with your system architecture. Verify that the specific driver package supports your configuration; compatibility can vary between releases.
  2. Prepare the computer. Close recording applications and other programs using audio. Keep the Akai EIE Pro disconnected until the installer instructions tell you to connect it.
  3. Run the installer. Extract the download if necessary, launch the setup program, and approve the Windows permission prompt. Follow the installation instructions to add the driver components.
  4. Connect the interface. When prompted, connect the EIE Pro’s power supply and USB cable, then switch it on. Use a direct USB connection where possible, and restart Windows if requested.
  5. Configure your audio software. Open your recording application and select the EIE Pro as the audio device, choosing its ASIO driver where available. Enable the inputs and outputs you need, then test playback and recording at a moderate buffer setting.

If you hear clicks or dropouts, try increasing the buffer size and checking the USB connection before reinstalling the driver. Lower buffer settings can reduce monitoring delay, but they also place greater demands on the computer.

Common Issues and Fixes

  • Install fails or stalls: Disconnect the Akai EIE Pro, run the installer as administrator, and allow it through SmartScreen/antivirus if blocked. Reboot, then connect the interface only when the installer asks.
  • Device not detected: Use a direct USB 2.0 port and a known-good cable; avoid unpowered hubs. Check Device Manager for an unknown USB audio device, power-cycle the EIE Pro, and test another PC.
  • Version/ASIO conflicts: Uninstall old Akai/EIE or ASIO4ALL drivers, reboot, then install the current package. In your DAW, select “Akai EIE Pro ASIO” and match Windows/DAW sample rates to 44.1 or 48 kHz.
