The Line 6 POD XT driver enables Windows to communicate with your guitar amp and effects processor over USB. It supports the connection needed to use the POD XT with compatible recording software and Line 6 utilities, rather than relying on the computer to recognize every function automatically.
Key Features
- USB device communication: Helps Windows identify the POD XT and establish a connection with supported audio applications.
- Audio recording support: Allows compatible recording software to access the processor’s USB audio functions for capturing your guitar tones.
- ASIO integration: Compatible driver releases provide ASIO support for recording applications, with buffer settings that let you balance latency and playback stability.
- Access for compatible utilities: Provides the underlying connection used by supported Line 6 software to communicate with the hardware. Editing and management tools may require separate installation.
How to Install
- Check your Windows version. Before downloading, confirm whether you use Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7, and check your system architecture. Verify that the selected driver explicitly supports your configuration; compatibility can vary between releases, particularly for older hardware on newer Windows versions.
- Prepare the POD XT and computer. Close recording applications and Line 6 utilities. Keep the processor disconnected from USB unless the installer’s instructions say otherwise.
- Run the driver installer. Open the downloaded package and follow the setup prompts. Allow Windows to install the driver when prompted, and connect the POD XT at the stage specified by the installer.
- Connect and verify the device. Power on the POD XT and attach it directly to a computer USB port using a suitable cable. Restart Windows if requested, then check Device Manager for detection errors.
- Configure your audio software. Select the POD XT as the appropriate audio device in your recording application. If an ASIO option is available, choose it and test a short recording before adjusting buffer settings.
If the processor is not detected, try another USB port or cable and confirm that the driver matches your Windows installation. A driver installs the computer-side connection; it does not automatically update the POD XT’s firmware or install every companion application.
