The Actel FlashPro4 Programmer driver enables Windows to recognize the programmer and communicate with it through compatible FlashPro programming software. This connection allows the software to access the hardware for supported FPGA programming tasks. For Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7, choose a manufacturer-provided package that explicitly supports your operating system and system architecture.

Key Features

  • USB device recognition: Provides the interface Windows needs to identify the connected FlashPro4 programmer correctly.
  • Programming software communication: Allows compatible FlashPro tools to exchange commands and data with the programmer.
  • Support for programming workflows: Enables the hardware connection used by the programming software to configure and verify supported target devices.
  • Device identification for troubleshooting: Helps you check the programmer’s installation status in Windows Device Manager before starting a programming session.

How to Install

  1. Check package compatibility. Confirm your Windows version and whether your system is 32-bit or 64-bit. Review the manufacturer’s documentation to ensure the selected driver and FlashPro software release support both your operating system and the Actel FlashPro4 Programmer.
  1. Download and prepare the installer. Obtain the appropriate manufacturer-provided driver package or FlashPro software installer that includes the required drivers. Extract the files if they are supplied in an archive, and close any programming software already running.
  1. Run the installation. Launch the installer with administrator permissions and follow its prompts. If it offers a programmer-driver component, make sure that component is selected. Connect or disconnect the programmer when instructed.
  1. Connect and check the hardware. Attach the FlashPro4 to an available USB port using a suitable cable. Allow Windows to finish device setup, then open Device Manager and check that the programmer appears without a warning icon. Restart Windows if the installer requests it.
  1. Confirm detection in FlashPro. Open the compatible programming application and check that it detects the programmer before connecting to your target board or beginning a programming operation. If detection fails, verify the USB connection, review driver compatibility, and follow the manufacturer’s troubleshooting instructions.

The driver establishes communication with the programmer; it does not replace the programming application. Successful use also depends on compatible software, a supported target device, and the correct board connections and power setup.

Common Issues and Fixes

  • Driver install fails: Run the FlashPro4 installer as administrator and use a signed Microsemi/Actel driver package. If Windows blocks it, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement, install, then re-enable it.
  • Device not detected: Connect the FlashPro4 directly to a rear USB port, not a hub. In Device Manager, check for an unknown/USB device; if present, update the driver manually by pointing to the FlashPro4 driver folder.
  • Version conflicts: Match the FlashPro4 driver to your Libero SoC/FlashPro version. Uninstall older FlashPro programmer software and remove hidden USB devices in Device Manager, then reinstall the matching package.
