The HDHomeRun Tuner driver package helps Windows recognize the HDHomeRun Tuner as a network-connected TV device and route its video streams into compatible media applications. With the driver installed, Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8, and Windows 7 can scan channels, manage tuning, and pass live TV to DVR or media center software without complex network configuration. The setup also installs supporting components that keep communication between the PC and the tuner stable.

Key Features

  • Broad operating system support for Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8, and Windows 7, including 32-bit and 64-bit versions where available.
  • Automatic discovery of the HDHomeRun Tuner over your local network so it appears as an available TV source in compatible programs.
  • Stable channel scanning and tuning for over-the-air, clear QAM, or other broadcast sources accepted by your tuner model.
  • Integration with popular third-party DVR and media center applications that expect a standard Windows tuner interface.

How to Install

  1. Download the driver package for your version of Windows and save it to a convenient location on your computer.
  2. If an older HDHomeRun driver or utility is installed, remove it through Settings or Control Panel, then restart the PC.
  3. Connect the HDHomeRun Tuner to your router using an Ethernet cable, attach the antenna or cable feed, and connect the power adapter.
  4. Run the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen prompts. Allow administrator approval when Windows requests it so the driver and background service can be installed correctly.
  5. After installation completes, restart the computer if prompted, open your TV application or the configuration utility, and run a channel scan

Common Issues and Fixes

  • Installer fails or rolls back: Run the HDHomeRun Setup installer as administrator, temporarily disable antivirus/security tools, and ensure Windows is fully updated. Reboot and retry; if it still fails, uninstall any older HDHomeRun Setup version first.
  • Tuner not detected: Confirm the HDHomeRun is on the same LAN/subnet as the PC, power-cycled, and visible at my.hdhomerun.com. Allow HDHomeRun Setup and discovery traffic through Windows Firewall; wired Ethernet is more reliable than Wi-Fi.
  • Version conflicts or app can’t tune: Remove old HDHomeRun software and stale Windows Media Center tuner entries, install the current manufacturer package, then rescan channels. Keep firmware and Windows updates matched to avoid duplicate or outdated tuner listings.
