Name: Genius CMI8738 PCI 6CH LX Driver
Author: Genius

Question 1

Install fails or driver is rejected?

Accepted Answer

The CMI8738 package is legacy and often unsigned for Windows 10/11. Extract the driver, run setup/.inf in Windows 7/XP compatibility mode, or temporarily disable driver signature enforcement; confirm 32/64-bit matches.

Question 2

Card not detected?

Accepted Answer

Reseat the PCI card, try another PCI slot, and check Device Manager for an unknown “Multimedia Audio Controller” or yellow mark. Enable PCI/legacy audio in BIOS if needed, and disable onboard audio only if it conflicts.

Question 3

Version conflicts/wrong driver installed?

Accepted Answer

Remove old C-Media/Genius/Realtek audio drivers and hidden devices, then install the Genius CMI8738 driver manually via Device Manager > Update driver > Browse. Stop Windows Update from replacing it; don’t mix C-Media reference and Genius packages.
