Question 1

Install fails?

Accepted Answer

Windows may reject the EV500 monitor INF if it is for a different Windows version or architecture. Extract the package, then use Device Manager > Monitors > Update driver > Browse > Let me pick > Have Disk and select the EV500 INF manually.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the CRT’s power and VGA cable; use a direct VGA connection if possible. In Device Manager, scan for hardware changes. Until the INF is installed, Windows may list it as “Generic PnP Monitor.”

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall the existing monitor entry, delete any old Gateway monitor driver package, reboot, then install the EV500 driver. Avoid mixing drivers from other Gateway CRT models; set only supported resolutions and refresh rates.
