Question 1

Driver install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the GPSMAP 62s, uninstall older Garmin USB Drivers, run the latest installer as administrator, and reconnect only after setup finishes. Temporarily disable security software if it blocks the driver.

Question 2

Device not detected in Windows?

Accepted Answer

Use a known data-capable USB cable and a rear motherboard port, not a hub. On the GPSMAP 62s, set Setup > System > Interface > USB Mass Storage, then reconnect and check Device Manager for unknown devices.

Question 3

Version conflicts with older Garmin software?

Accepted Answer

Remove old Garmin USB Drivers, BaseCamp, or MapSource entries, delete hidden Garmin devices in Device Manager, reboot, and install the current driver before reopening BaseCamp.
