The ENE CIR HID Receiver driver allows Windows to communicate with the computer’s consumer infrared (CIR) receiver, which can accept commands from a compatible infrared remote control. Installing the appropriate driver from the manufacturer can help resolve an unrecognized receiver in Device Manager and restore remote-control input in supported applications.
Key Features
- Infrared remote input: Enables Windows to receive commands from compatible infrared remotes, such as navigation or media playback controls, depending on the hardware and application.
- HID integration: Supports the receiver’s interaction with Windows through the Human Interface Device (HID) framework, allowing supported software to use remote button input.
- Device recognition: Helps Windows identify and configure the ENE CIR HID Receiver instead of leaving it listed as an unknown device or with a missing-driver warning.
- Windows version support: Driver packages may be available for Windows 11, 10, 8, and 7. Choose a release that explicitly matches your operating system, system architecture, and computer model; a single package may not support every version.
How to Install
- Check your system and receiver. Open Settings or System Information to confirm your Windows version and whether it uses a 32-bit or 64-bit architecture. In Device Manager, check the receiver’s properties and hardware IDs if you need to verify the correct driver.
- Select a matching package. Download the manufacturer’s driver intended for your computer model and Windows edition. If several downloads are offered, use the compatibility information rather than assuming the newest package will work on an older system.
- Extract and install the driver. If the download is compressed, extract it first. Run the included setup program, approve the administrator prompt, and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Use Device Manager if no installer is included. Right-click the receiver or corresponding unknown device, select Update driver, then choose Browse my computer for drivers. Point Windows to the extracted folder and include subfolders when searching.
- Restart and test the remote. Restart if prompted, then confirm that the receiver appears without a warning icon in Device Manager. Test a compatible remote in a supported application, with working batteries and a clear line of sight to the receiver.
If installation fails, recheck the hardware ID and package compatibility. A CIR driver does not add infrared capability to a computer without the required receiver hardware.
Common Issues and Fixes
- Install fails or rolls back: Use the package matching your Windows version/architecture, run it as administrator, and disconnect other IR/HID receivers. Check Device Manager for error codes 28/52; only use signed ENE CIR driver packages.
- Receiver not detected: Try another USB port directly on the PC, not a hub. Check Device Manager for unknown/USB devices and re-enable Human Interface Devices/CIR entries. Confirm receiver activity and test with IR software.
- Version conflicts after update: Show hidden devices, remove old ENE CIR/HID entries, uninstall the previous driver, reboot, then reinstall the correct package. Prevent Windows Update from replacing it with a generic HID driver; roll back if IR functions stop.
